Have you taken your meds?

Breathe out.

Is it something they said?

In.

Have you eaten today?

Out.

Is it maybe the way

he’s staring at you.

Is the fear that you feel

coming from something true?

Something real?

Breathe in.

Count your fingers and toes.

Breathe out.

Feel your breath as it flows

from your nose to your lungs then escapes–

you are real.

Take a minute and think–

stop the spiral that’s winding you up, falling down.

Breathe in.

Find the ground.

Breathe out.
